Elster Newsome

Elster Newsome, 70, of Williamson, WV passed away Wednesday; February 18, 2026 at the Pikeville Medical Center.  Born February 24, 1955 in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Darling and Virginia Newsome. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Newsome, and a sister, Juanita Newsome. 

Elster was a former coal miner. 

Survivors include his children, Nicholas (Amanda) Newsome and Nicole Fannin all of Pikeville, KY; his longtime companion, Betty Smith of Williamson, WV; 3 brothers, Vester Newsome, Lester Newsome, and Virnel Newsome; 2 sisters, Hester Hannah and Shirley Newsome; the mother of his children, Etta Newsome of Pikeville, KY; and his grandchildren, Jacob Newsome, Elektra Fannin, Jamison Fannin, Chase Newsome, Tucker Newsome, and Taylyn Fannin. 

In honoring Elster’s wishes cremation will take place and no services will be held.
